King's English

Congressman Steve King is a big supporter of the the English language! During his career in the U.S. House of Representatives, he has introduced a bill to make English the official language of the United States six times! None of these bills have made it out of committee, but, keep trying, Representative!

In honor of his persistence, we present a weekly post, "King's English."

Each week we give you a way to increase your vocabulary and build your understanding of the language that has served America well since 1492.

This Week's Word: Discombobulated

"discombobulated"

(adjective) confused

From an interview on Newsmax TV on Wednesday: In response to the host’s question about Congressional Black Caucus members raising concerns to Missouri's attorney general on the likelihood of racial profiling in the Ferguson unrest, King said:
"This idea of no racial profiling...I've seen the video. It looks to me like you don't need to bother with that particular factor because they all appear to be of a single, you know, of a single origin, I should say, a continental origin might be the way to phrase that."
